NICF welcome picnic

It was a great way to start the new year at NICF. Instead of having a welcome dinner at night, we had a picnic (something we do for the end of the year) at Top Regent Park, the foreigner housing community outside the center city. I'd been there before for a worship thing at Uli's house, but seeing the rest of the complex was really fun. We had a potluck in the clubhouse (and Catie got a great idea for wedding photos!) with tons of amazing food...so full afterward :) Then Jeff shared the history of the NICF, ministry opportunities were presented, we sang a few songs, then played some games outside. The predicted rainfall stayed away (pr works y'all!), and we had a really great afternoon. Sadly, but awesomely, the highlight for some of us was discovering the clubhouse's little mini mart stocked with all kinds of American stuff, and so surprisingly cheap. The best thing?

You guessed it!! Dr. Pepper, for only 6.5 kuai for 1 can (less than one USD)!!!! We flipped out. I also bought a can of diet A&W rootbeer, some Lipton instant pasta stuff and tortellini. Couldn't believe the prices. Oh yeah...we'll be going back :)

Great way to top off an already-great afternoon.
